Level 3 DevOps specialist
The Logging Application Performance Management Operations team is part of the Plant Management reliability engineering department in Morgan Stanley. Our global team supports the infrastructure for products that provide centralized log and metric collection, storage, and analytics for a large range of internal applications and systems. The products we work with include Splunk, Extrahop, AppDynamics, and related internally developed solutions. You will be part of the global follow the sun operations model, which translates to global responsibility for the aforementioned technologies in the regions that our team operates.
We are looking for a Level 3 DevOps specialist to maintain the infrastructure, provide operational stability, and to drive change through identifying areas for process improvement, automation, and scripting wherever possible. This role reports to the Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) lead. Colleagues are primarily based in Montreal, London, Bangalore and Tokyo.
Responsibilities include:
Deploying and administering Enterprise Splunk, Extrahop, AppDynamics, and other internally developed logging and Application Performance Management (APM) platforms
Monitoring of supported systems
Troubleshooting infrastructure and usergenerated incidents/requests related to these platforms
Supporting application infrastructure components, such as DB2, NoSQL databases, Linux servers, Apache web containers , Apache Kafka/Zookeeper, and more
Problem management, including root cause analysis and definition of followup actions
Driving process improvements through process improvement, automation and scripting
Contributing to technical documentation to share processes and knowledge with others
Sharing oncall rotation with the rest of the large global team (with a timeoff in lieu system)
Skills Required:
5+ years of relevant experience
Strong Unix Administration and Troubleshoot
